Online Training Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I study online?
Studying online saves time and money, while still being an effective way to learn. There's no need to schedule a week away from work or travel to a classroom site to have access to an instructor. You can work at your own pace, when it is convenient for you: at the office, at home, or while away. Online courses are also interactive and self-paced, leading to better comprehension. The more involved you are in the course, the more you will remember.
What computer skills do I need?
Basic familiarity with Windows and an Internet Browser are the only requirements. If you are comfortable using a mouse, navigating the web, and performing basic e-mail tasks, than you have the computer skills needed to succeed in an online course.
What computer equipment is required?
You simply need a PC or Macintosh with an Internet connection. Internet Explorer, version 5.5 or higher, is the preferred browser for viewing Quality Associates International courses. The higher your modem speed, the faster your graphics will download. Even if your modem speed is only 28.8 kBps, images will still download in 10 seconds or less.
Are there specific times when I need to be "in class"?
No. There are no required "log in" times. You can work on the course in the daytime, evening, or after midnight. That's the freedom of online learning!
What special study skills does online learning require?
Studying online requires you to follow written instructions, set your own schedule, and discipline yourself to make steady progress through the course. Self-motivation is key. You also need to recognize when to review certain concepts before moving forward or when you need to ask for assistance.
How should I pace myself?
One of the benefits to online learning is that you can go at your own pace, depending on your individual learning style and your schedule. But to keep making progress and retain what you're learning, you might aim to do at least one lesson a week.
How will I know how I'm doing in the course?
You will be taking online quizzes at the end of every lesson. When you have completed the last lesson, there is a final exam. Your quizzes and final exam are graded as you go. Responses give you immediate feedback on whether your answers are right or wrong. When you finish the last question of a quiz or test, your final score for that exam is calculated and displayed to you right away.
Do I receive any credit for an online course?
Upon successful completion of a course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from QAI. Though not affiliated with any educational institution, some courses offered by QAI are recognized as ASQ or RAB approved. In order to receive Certification from those organizations however, you would be required to take the certification tests from those organizations. Where required, QAI will "sponsor" you as having successfully completed the required course work for a certification exam - for example Six Sigma Black Belt ASQ Certification.
