This workshop reviews R & M concepts based on the reliability and maintainability guideline for manufacturing machinery and equipment and the tool and equipment (TE) supplement. Utilization of reliability and maintainability concepts in the conceptual and design phases of tooling and equipment can contribute to reduction of maintenance, warranty and life cycle costs while increasing equipment availability. This workshop will explain practical uses of effective project management methods with R & M tools and techniques. This workshop will cover the following topics in detail: Introduction and benefits of R & M; Implementation of R & M through the life cycle process; User and supplier R & M activities through all life cycle phases; R & M activity checklist; R & M deliverables review and interfaces (tools and techniques); Life cycle costs; Tracking and feedback systems for component failures; Sources of R & M data from tool & equipment user; and R & M contracting.
