Workshops

27. Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA)

Special Affiliation: AIAG
Duration: 2d / 16h
Color Code: Color Code: Green (Quality Tools)

Workshop Details:

This workshop focuses on the basic concepts of Design FMEA, Process FMEA and Characteristics Matrix. Individuals will learn that FMEA is used to determine what can go wrong with a design, failure severity and the probability of a failure. Process FMEA provides an advantage to a manufacturing facility in determining risk to the safety of the employees and the process and contribution to-ward meeting product specifications which leads to customer satisfaction. The advantages of using FMEA include determining significant and critical characteristics, failure mode / cause mechanisms and risk to customer safety and satisfaction. Selection of special characteristics will be reviewed, as well as, how the DFMEA drives test plan development. At the completion of the workshop, the participant will be able to interpret DFMEA requirements and develop characteristic matrixes, test plans, process FMEAs, process flows and control plans. This workshop will cover the following topics in detail: Design FMEA (DFMEA); FMEA outputs testing; Relationship of DFMEA to Process FMEA (PFMEA) special characteristics; Process flow; Characteristic matrix; Developing the Process FMEA; Process FMEA outputs; Relationship of Process FMEA to Control Plans; and FMEA development workshop.
